Frequently asked questions

Is a guarantor or introducer required for availing a gold loan? Do I need to open an account with a bank?

For most companies, including Rupeek, a guarantor is not a requirement to avail of a gold loan in cityname. When it comes to secured loans, there is a minimum requirement that the borrower has to meet. This is because the security of the collateral allows the lender to provide several benefits and flexibility to its borrowers. But a bank account is necessary even in the case of a secured loan. This is because a secured loan requires its borrower to hold a bank account to which the loan amount can be disbursed. It is also through this account that the borrower is expected to repay the loan amount.

My payment has failed, what do I do?

Since all the transactions take place online, in the case of an online gold loan in cityname, it is possible that due to some error, the transaction may fail. If this should happen to you, rest assured since within 72 hours from when the amount was debited from your account, it will be credited back to you. This is what the guidelines of the bank state. In case it doesn’t refund within that duration, make sure to get in touch with your bank. If you attempted to make the transaction via NEFT, it will take longer to get refunded to your account. If you still need help with the transaction error, you can always get guidance and help from the support team of the lender.

Are there any charges levied for late payment of interest?

To avoid default in payments or arrears, most lenders charge a penalty fee. This will be collected along with the next month's payment. If any defaults or arrears occur in next month's repayment as well, your lender will escalate the issue to loan managers. Stringent action will be taken to ensure that you repay your loan along with the corresponding interest on-time. To avoid such dire consequences, borrowers must make on-time repayments and it must be considered as the number one priority. Negligence of timely payment reflects poorly on the borrower's credit score which affects the borrower's future scope of credit.

What are the things to keep in mind when taking a gold loan?

When taking a gold loan, a borrower should consider the following points before choosing a lender -

  1. Loan-to-Value (LTV): The loan amount being sanctioned for the gold can vary between lenders. A borrower should ensure they are receiving the highest LTV amount for their gold.
  2. Interest rate: This rate determines how much a borrower will pay for the loan, so the lower this is, the better.
  3. Gold security: Without an insurance cover or secure transport of the collateral, there may be certain risks to consider which can result in major losses.
  4. Additional fees and charges: These can increase a loan amount immensely, so it’s important to look out for a lender that charges the minimum amount for services being provided.
  5. Repayment schemes: A borrower needs to be able to repay the loan amount based on their monthly budget and financial standing to avoid defaults. Borrowers should look for flexible repayment plans to ensure this is made possible.
